Rabab--an Overview

The Rubab is a musical instrument originally from Afghanistan and the national instrument of Afghanistan. It is also known as the “lion of instruments”. It is mainly used by Pushtoons, Tajiks, Kashmiris, Baluchs and Iranian musicians. Rubab is attested from the 7th century CE and is mentioned in Old Persian books.

It is widely used in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, India and Uzbekistan.
